HOW TO PLAY BACCARAT

The rules of Baccarat Gambling are quite simple. The purpose of the game is to collect a hand of 2-3 cards with a value that is as close as possible to 9. If the first two cards of a hand total 8 or 9 the hand is declared a 'natural' and wins. Natural 9 beats natural 8. If the player or the banker has a natural, the other participant is not allowed to ask for a third card. Should there be a tie, only bets on “tie” will win.

Tens and face cards count as zero, except ace that equals 1. Cards 2- 9 are worth their face value. If a hand total equals a number with two digits, the first digit is disregarded. If your hand totals 16, the “1” is dropped and the hand is actually a “6”.

One player plays the banker position. The banker deals two hands of two cards each, face down. These hands are for the other player and for him. Other participants are now allowed to bet on the player, the banker, or a tie. At American-gambling, we use the English names, but in some casinos, betting on the bank is called “banco” and betting on the player is called betting “punto.”

If a player’s hand is worth less than the natural, he is allowed to pass or take another card face up. The player is obligated to pass if he gets six or seven and may never draw more than three cards. Casinos take a share of wagers on the bank hand, as it is slightly more likely that the bank hand will win.
